 I cross my legs and sit like a pixie while he lies back on the bed, looking content. I feel that, for the first time, we really understand each other.

“It’s like magic, isn’t it? The way we met, the fate that brought us together?”

“Yes,” he tells me. “It’s also magical, the way you make love.” “Thank you, Daddy.”

“I must reward you somehow. What would you like?”

“I’d like to see my mother, and have you pay my father his bride’s price. You reminded me of it when you said Bristol, because we usually camp near there this time of year.”
